Branding is not just about having a pretty website and a fun logo. Yes, that’s one part of it, but branding is about much more than that. It’s the essence and the soul of your business. And as a service-based entrepreneur, you are essentially your brand.
People are not buying into your service. They are buying into you. Your brand is an extension of who you are. It’s not about creating this perfect persona that you think people want to see. It’s about just being YOU.

Here, I’m sharing nine juicy tips with you for creating a totally sexy and magnetic brand that establishes you as an expert and attracts your dream clients like bees to honey.
Live Your Brand
To create a brand that sells, you have to not just share your message but live it too. You need to practice what you preach. By living on brand and sharing it with your audience, you are giving them an opportunity to get to know you and providing a little taste of how you can help them.
For example, my personal brand is all about helping women creating a chic online business around their passion and living a luxe, freedom-filled lifestyle on their own terms. So living on brand for me includes living my own luxe lifestyle.
For me, that means living in Los Angeles, enjoying fancy getaways at five-star resorts, going out for decadent dinners, and the occasional Louis Vuitton splurge. I live my brand and share it with my audience to inspire them and show them what’s possible for them too when they listen to their hearts and create a passion-fueled business.
At the end of the day, clients choose to hire you over someone else because they like the way you do life and in some way they aspire to be like you so you need to talk the talk and also walk the walk.
Be Authentic & Vulnerable
All that said, living on brand isn’t about being perfect all the time. You still want to keep it real with your audience. Authenticity is queen when it comes to running an online business. And vulnerability is your POWER. It’s what helps people connect and relate to you. It’s what takes your brand from great to unforgettable. So don’t be afraid to also share the not so perfect parts of yourself with your audience. They will fall in love with you even more.
Hone Your Voice
Your voice is also such a big important part of your personal brand. If you’re new to writing, this can take a bit of time and practice. Writing is a skill and the only way to get better at it is to just keep writing.
When I first started my writing career as a freelance fashion editor, it took me months of writing articles every single day to be able to really hone my authentic voice.
Five years and literally THOUSANDS of published magazine articles later, I’m at a point where the words just flow out of me but I promise you that was not the case in the beginning— even with a Bachelor’s degree in journalism under my belt.
So be patient with yourself. The biggest piece of advice I can give you when it comes to honing your brand voice is to just write how you would talk to a friend. Allow your personality to shine through your words. This will help your dream clients get to know you and connect with you.

A very important part of your brand, probably THE most important, is your story. It’s what sets you apart from the crowd. No one else on this entire planet has your story. It’s what makes you so damn special. It’s what makes you YOU.
And in order to make your business successful, you have to be open and willing to share your story loud and proud. It takes trust for people to invest in you and sharing your story builds that trust and familiarity very quickly. It helps people get to know, like, and trust you and connect with you on a deeper level. Your story is what sells so share it everywhere, all the time.
Know Your IT Factor
As a personal brand, you need know your IT factor? What is it about you that makes you special and makes you stand out? Maybe it’s your past experience. Maybe it’s your personality. Maybe it’s the way you write, talk, or your sense of humor. It can be a number of things but it’s important that you know what it is for you and allow that to shine through your business.
When it comes to business and branding, if you try to be like everyone else, you’ll just end up becoming a watered down, less sexy version of someone else and that’s not cool. The only way to virtually eliminate your competition is by just being YOU because no one is as good at that as you.
Tap Into Your Why
An irresistible brand is deeply connected to a why. What is the purpose of your business? What is the difference you are trying to make? What do you and your business stand for? What’s your brand’s core message?
As a new entrepreneur, these are all questions that you need to answer and get really clear on. Your why and your passion is what moves people. Clients are not just buying into you and your service. They’re also buying into your mission. Get clear on what that is and make sure you’re communicating that with your audience.
Deliver Massive Value
The secret to creating a bombshell brand that has people always coming back for more is delivering value consistently. That means creating free, powerful content— whether that’s through blog posts, videos, newsletters, or social media content. In business, the more you give, the more you receive.
If a visitor lands on your website and reads some of your content and it’s just kind of blah. Do you really think they’re going to want to pay you big bucks to learn more from you? Probably not.
But if they land on your site and you completely blow them away by how much value you offer in just that one blog post, they’re going to think: “Wow! If this is what she shares for free, her paid offers must be incredible!”
This is exactly why content creation is such big focus. I know and have seen the power of it. There’s a reason why Fortune 500 businesses that bring in millions and millions of dollars also create free content to grow their brand and their audience.
