How To Use EFT Tapping To Manifest Your Dream Reality
As a Manifestation Coach, one of the biggest messages that I want to teach people about manifestation is that we manifest from our subconscious beliefs, not necessarily our thoughts.
Our outer reality is simply a reflection of our inner reality. That’s why reprogramming subconscious limiting beliefs is such a big part of manifesting the things you want and why I focus on this a lot with my manifestation coaching clients.
It is definitely not an easy process. There’s a lot of digging and healing that’s involved. One tool that helps make this process so much quicker and easier is EFT (emotional freedom technique) also known as tapping.
Tapping is a profound healing modality that allows you to change your limiting beliefs as well as deal with other things like unresolved trauma, anxiety, stress, and even fears and phobias.
It’s helped me personally move through so many blocks and has radically changed my life since I incorporated it into my life a few years ago.
Here, I explain what tapping is, how it works, and how you too can use it to manifest your dream life.
What is EFT tapping?
Tapping is a combination of ancient Chinese acupressure and modern psychology. By tapping on certain meridian points on your face and body, it helps restore balance in the body, calms the nervous system, releases negative energy, and rewires your brain to respond differently to certain stimuli.
Before You Start Tapping
Choose the most pressing issue: The first step is to choose what issue you want to focus on. It can be a fear, a limiting belief, or an emotion that you’re feeling. I help my manifestation coaching clients choose their most pressing issue by first getting clear on what they most want to manifest and then pinpointing what is the biggest limiting belief that is holding them back from manifesting it.
Choose your setup statement: Once you know what you want to tackle, you need to come up with a setup statement which is a two-part phrase that helps you tune into the issue. The first part states how you’re feeling and the second part acknowledges and accepts how you’re feeling.
For example, if you want to work on dismantling the belief that making money is hard, your setup statement could be:
“Even though I believe making money is hard, I completely love, honor, and accept myself.”
It doesn’t have to be worded in this exact way. You can definitely tweak it so that it resonates with you.
How to Tap
Karate chop point: Start by tapping on your karate chop point, which is the fleshy part on the side of your hand between your pinky and your wrist, while you repeat your setup statement at least three times.
Then, you can move through the other tapping points tapping on each point about five to seven times while you say how you’re feeling. You can do either side (or both) since the meridian points run along both sides of your body.
Here are the tapping points:
Side of the eye point
Under the eye point
Under the nose point
Under the arm point
Top of the head point
Tap on the negative: Go through a few rounds focusing on the negative, which just means you’re saying how you feel about the most pressing issue. Say any thoughts or feelings that come up for you. The reason you want to focus on the negative first is because that is your truth at the moment and it’s important to give those feelings a voice in order to process them and move through them.
Tap in the positive: Once you’ve done a few rounds of the negatives and feel like you’ve gotten those out of your system, then you can do a few positive rounds. This is the fun part! This is when you tap in the new beliefs you want to implant into your subconscious mind. Just be specific. Tapping is the most effective when you get really specific.
End by taking a deep breath.
Talk It Out
If you get stuck on what words to use while you’re tapping, just pretend you’re telling a friend about how you feel or what’s going on. Don’t overthink it. Just let whatever needs to come up pour out.
Tap While The Emotion Is Hot
Sometimes it’s a little tricky to tap on certain things when you don’t feel that certain feeling or emotion in that specific moment. That’s why I recommend tapping when you’re really feeling that emotion because then it’ll be right up at the surface and you can move through it easier.
Tapping is a very therapeutic process and it can often take a lot out of you because you’re literally shifting so much within you. That’s why it’s important to drink water before and after tapping. Being nice and hydrated helps flush out any toxins released during the tapping session and helps make it more effective.
Test the Intensity
In order to know if things are really shifting for you while you tap, you can test the intensity of the setup statement before and after on a scale of 1-10. Just say your setup statement out loud before you start tapping and give it a number based on how true and intense it feels for you. Then repeat that when you’re done to see if the number has went down.
Bodily Sensations are a Good Sign
Like I said, while you tap, lots of things will be shifting within you so it’s perfectly normal to start feeling some bodily sensations. You might get the chills, yawn, burp, sneeze, or feel energized or sleepy afterward. These are all good signs because it means your energy is shifting. I tend to yawn a lot when I’m really hitting something juicy during tapping and sometimes I even need a nap afterward. Whatever you feel, honor your body and give it what it needs when you’re done.
Tapping really is a process. You’re not always going to hit the nail on the head the first time around. So if you’re tapping away and not feeling any changes, that just means you might need to dig a little deeper. Try to get to the core of what is really going on. There are always underlying issues that perhaps we aren’t noticing so just keep tapping on different things until you find some relief.
Work With a Coach
It’s also really powerful to tap with a coach (like me!). I find this to be very helpful because a coach can help spot blind spots that you’re missing or will ask you the right questions that will help you dig deeper and really get to the core of what’s really blocking you. We can really get specific in this way and make some big shifts.
Make It a Daily Ritual
When I started tapping every day, that’s when my whole life started to change—truly. It was like I was peeling away layer after layer. Each time I felt lighter and closer to my authentic self. Just like any other spiritual ritual like meditation and journaling, tapping is most effective when you make it a regular practice. Even if it’s just 10 minutes in the morning or before bed, commit to doing it as much as possible and I promise you’ll see amazing results.
Read Tapping Books
There is tons of amazing guidance on tapping out there so don’t be afraid to do your own research. Two tapping books I always recommend are The Tapping Solution by Nick Ortner and Tapping Into Wealth by Margaret M. Lynch. You’ll learn so much. Plus, they both come with tapping scripts that you can use.
